“Men I Trust”
30x44, oil on canvas, 2025. In this piece, I deal with themes of platonic intimacy. Blurring the boundaries of what is considered a friend and a lover. I use my roommates as my subjects and our shared living space as the environment. I aim to demonstrate the cluttered sense of romance our space creates for us.
“John’s Carrot Cake”
18x24, acrylic on canvas, 2024. A painting created in memory of my late grandfather. My grandfather taught me many valuable lessons, tangible and intangible. He taught me to drive, how to change a tire, how to pump gas, how to play sudoku, how to golf, and much more. He valued the art of cooking and intended to pass down his skills to my brothers and me. His favorite recipe was a carrot cake he made competitively.
“Super Bitch”
18x24, acrylic on board, 2024. Created for my junior gender studies course. This painting was in response to the sexism that existed in vintage superhero comic books. Specifically in the series “She Hulk”. I turned myself into the super hero I want see more in comics. A female hero made for women.
36x48 acrylic on canvas, 2023. I created this for my sophomore drawing class. In this piece, I conformed my own body to fit the dimensions of the canvas. I used this idea of “fitting into a box” to symbolize my feeling of being constricted by my gender.
“Use the rectangle”
20x30 Oil on illustration board, 2023. Created as apart of my motion in portraiture series for my sophomore painting class. I created the motion of me waking up in a restless sleep through transparency and repetition. The piece and its title are a response to the question “how do you sleep at night?”
“Clonidine and earplugs”
“Growing Pains”
24x18 oil on canvas board, 2023. Created for my sophomore drawing class. In this piece wanted to show my younger brother as he is currently. In a stage of awkward transition from child to young adult. I wanted to show the uncomfortable feeling of the teenage experience while referencing traditional portraiture techniques.
“Nap Study”
18x22 oil on canvas board, 2023. Created for my sophomore painting class. In this piece, I played with foreshortening to create a more interesting study.
“Greg three times”
18x24 oil on canvas board, 2023. An oil painting created for my Sophomore painting class. This piece is apart of a series of paintings where I tried to achieve motion in portraiture. I painted my now roommate Greg three ways to depict him turning his head. I played around with saturated colors and expressive brush strokes.
18x24, Oil on canvas, 2022. Created for my sophomore painting class. In this I wanted to represent the daily task of taking off my makeup. I wanted to show this sometimes painful and demotivating process. The removal of a hyper feminized self.
